Very rare cast brass slouch hat badge with 2 integral loops to reverse. Raised by Major J.J.Drought in June 1940 from volunteers when the Italians attacked across Kenya and also known as Drought's Scouts. Very nice set comprising a painted photograph in period gilt frame and an officer's French pattern gilt shako plate with 2 loops to reverse. Inscription to back of frame reads 'Richard Wm Barnardiston Crowther (afterwards 1874 Crowther-Beynon) b.1836 d.1878 was first in 63rd Regt. and later exchanged into 1st Royal Scots'.
