Raised by Major J.J.Drought in June 1940 from volunteers when the Italians attacked across Kenya and also known as Drought's Scouts. Comprised of approximately 85 Europeans, a large proportion of whom were Dutch. The object of the unit was to raid behind enemy lines in pairs riding on mules. Disbanded in September 1940 when GOC India decided Europeans were needed to officer the new African infantry battalions, some men going to the intelligence section that was raised (The White Hunters). The badge was worn on a house shaped cloth backing, the left half in maroon and the right in yellow. Very small amount of verdigris to one loop and back of badge
