A fine pair of excellent solid frosted sterling silver collar badges. Also worn individually as field service cap badges. Both with 2 loops and maker's name J.R.Gaunt of London and sterling silver mark to reverse. Reference K&K Vol1 768
The 18th Royal Hussars (Queen Mary's Own) was a cavalry regiment of the British Army, first formed in 1759.
Serving in the Boer War and on the Western Front of World War One, the regiment also gained a royal honorific when it was renamed in 1903 after Mary, wife of George V.
It saw service for two centuries, before being amalgamated into the 13th/18th Hussars in 1922
