Officer's silver and gilt helmet plate with 3 loops to reverse. Gilt a little dull but a clean plate. In 1900 with war office instruction of January 30th the castle and key was redesigned. After 1911 the universal scroll read 'The Essex Regiment.' Full dress went in 1914 so this pattern only lasted 3 years. Ref K&K Vol1 258 p130/131 for Victorian example
