White metal beret badge with slide to reverse. Converted to a glider borne unit 31st Infantry Brigade. Renamed 1st Air Landing Brigade then transferred to the 6th Air Landing Brigade as part of the newly formed 6th Airborne Division. Took part in Operation Mallard on D-Day 6th June 1944 in the glider borne landings. Fought in Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge, and also in the last airborne mission of the war Operation Varsity. They suffered heavy casualties
