Junior Salvage Steward WWII
Red plastic badge with pin to reverse. Formed in 1942 by the WVS to get children involved in salvage work. The badge represents a cogwheel. The Cog Scheme started in London but became nationwide. The children designed salvage posters and a song entitled 'There'll always be a dustbin'. Maker's name F&G. Ref Doing Their Bit Jon Mills p117
