71st Independent Infantry Division WWII

Woven cloth 1st pattern (1942) formation sign. Formed in October 1942. In 1943 replaced 159 Infantry Brigade. Transferred to 11th Armoured Division. Became part of the 53rd Welsh Infantry Division. Fought throughout the North West Europe campaign. Consisted of 7th Battalion King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment and 8th/9th Battalion York and Lancs. Regiment. Ref Bruno Boulanger p244
