Woven cloth formation sign. Formed from The Buffs and the West Kents (hence the Kentish cobnut). Part of the 12th Division in the BEF in WWII. Saw much hard fighting until cut off from the division. It served with the 23rd and 50th Divsions against German armoured formations near Albert. Only a few survivors eventually returned to the UK. Reorganized in the UK to see service in North Africa and Italy with the 1st Army
