16th Irish Division WWI

Woven cloth formation sign. Green shamrock on khaki. Served in France from December 1915. Motto was 'Everywhere and always faithful' and was an old motto from the 17th or 18th century when the Irish fought with the French. Ref Morris Formation Signs WWI p13
