Bowker's Horse

Brass slouch hat badge with 2 loops to reverse. Raised for service in WWI. Bowker's Horse strove hard to retain its individuality, but in the end became one of several volunteer corps that came to make up the East African Mounted Rifles. However the concession was made to its gallant leader Russell Bowker that his men while wearing EAMR on their shoulder straps could retain the letters BH on their helmets (see picture). Ref as shown
