231st Independent Infantry Brigade

Printed cloth formation sign with stiff card at the back. Garrisoned in Malta during the Italian and German air attacks when the island was under siege. Made up of 1st Battalion Hampshire Regiment, 1st Battalion Dorset Regiment and the 2nd Battalion Devonshire Regiment. Siege raised in April 1943. Brigade moved to Egypt and took part in Sicily landings and Europe. Very hard fought brigade. Ref Waring 322A
