Japanese POW Burma
Prisoner of war cloth identification with name patch and also signing stick (carved bamboo for illiterate prisoners). These came from the effects of Major Robert Charles William Luff of the 100th Anti Tank Gordon Highlanders. He doubled as an intelligence officer for HQ 4 Corps and devised the cloth ID with name patch and signing stick. There is one name patch with rank, 2 extra rank bars and the stick. Not being fluent in Japanese I cannot say if the stick ties up with the patch. A very rare set of items. After the war Major Luff was a founder member of the Black and White Minstrels show
