East Riding of Yorkshire Yeomanry 1944

Officer's dated beret with silver and gilt badge. A nice original piece of headdress in very good condition with supplier's stamp Beret Industries Ltd. 1944 and broad arrow mark. Size 7⅛. Joined BEF in 1940 as part of the 1st Armoured Reconnaissance Brigade. Saw much fighting in Europe and landed on D-Day supporting the 9th Infantry Brigade. Fought out the rest of the war in various battles. Brigadier Carver (later Field Marshal Lord Carver) considered them one of if not the best armoured regiment he had come across
