5th Mounted Rifles (Otago Hussars) New Zealand K/C

Bi-metal cap badge with 2 loops to reverse. Maker's plate J.R.Gaunt. Amalgamated in 1921 with the 7th and 12th Mounted Rifles to form Otago Mounted Rifles Regt. Became 3rd Armoured Regt. in 1944. Fought Gallipoli Western Front and Egypt in WWI. Ref Cox p308/09
