Very scarce 1st pattern other ranks peaked cap. Worn for a short while in 1918 after the formation of the RAF. It was gradually changed to the blue uniform we know today. Khaki hat with black band and brass RAF badge. Leather lining with paper label to Felt Hatters and Trimmers Union and 'This hat union made' and the mottos 'Be just and fear not' and 'Defence not defiance'. Damage to some of the label

Royal Flying Corps WWI

Leather cowl pattern flying helmet. These were private purchase and standard issue to aircrew. Soft brown leather with ear rolls. Fur lining to interior absent. Good condition overall, leather remains supple. Very small hole (about 1⁄4" diameter) to bottom left as you would look at the wearer. Ink written name R.S.Turner with some faint ink stamped marks. Turner is listed in the Royal Flying Corps index for officers and aircrew
